About Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet is a Swiss luxury watch manufacturer that was founded in 1875 by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet in the village of Le Brassus in the Vallée de Joux region of Switzerland. The two watchmakers started the company as a small workshop that specialized in crafting high-quality complicated timepieces.

The company quickly gained a reputation for its innovative designs and complicated movements, and by the turn of the 20th century, it had established itself as one of the leading watchmakers in the world. In 1891, Audemars Piguet developed its first minute repeater watch, which could chime the time in hours, quarters, and minutes at the push of a button.

In the early 20th century, Audemars Piguet continued to innovate, creating some of the world’s thinnest pocket watches and introducing the first skeleton watch in 1934. During World War II, the company shifted its focus to producing military watches for the Swiss Army.

In the 1950s, Audemars Piguet introduced the iconic Royal Oak watch, designed by Gérald Genta. The Royal Oak was the first luxury sports watch, and its octagonal bezel and exposed screws set it apart from traditional luxury timepieces.

Throughout the latter half of the 20th century, Audemars Piguet continued to develop new complications and innovative designs, including the world’s thinnest automatic movement in 1967 and the first self-winding tourbillon watch in 1986.

Today, Audemars Piguet remains one of the most respected and prestigious watchmakers in the world, with a rich history of innovation and craftsmanship. Its watches are highly sought-after by collectors and watch enthusiasts, and the company continues to push the boundaries of horological design and engineering.
